30 hours per week - hours of work:  Mon, Tues, Weds and Friday 8.45am - 3.15pm - Thurs 8.45am - 4.15pm.

We are seeking to appoint a teaching assistant, to support our students in their learning to ensure they have the best life chances possible.

Mabel Prichard is a special school for children with profound and multiple learning difficulties and severe learning difficulties with an age range of 2 to 19, split over two sites. Our classes vary from 8 to 10 students and we have a team of adults working in each. We offer training across a number of areas and support and encourage career development. 

To apply for this job, you will:

  • Have experience of working with children, preferably with PMLD, SLD, ASD and other complex needs. If you do not have experience with children with SEND, we offer training..
  • Be an excellent team player
  • Have strong written and verbal communication skills which will be assessed at the interview.
  • Believe passionately all students should be offered every opportunity to reach their full potential.
  • Maybe have an interesting skill or talent to share with our students.
  • Be keen to undertake professional development to build your skills.
  • Have an interest in sharing any skills or knowledge with the rest of the staff team.

Our teachers work with  multi-disciplinary teams, including speech and language therapists, physiotherapists and occupational therapists. We also work closely with the CAMHS (child and adult mental health services) to ensure all students have the support they need to learn.
