Safeguarding at Mabel Prichard School

At Mabel Prichard School, the health, safety and welfare of our children are of paramount importance to us.   We respect our pupils and want them to be safe and lead a happy, positive and fulfilled life.

In order to keep our children safe at school, we

  • ensure that all our staff – through their induction and on going training – have a clear understanding of their responsibilities towards our children’s safeguarding
  • make sure that we have a range of clear and up to date policies and procedures in place to ensure the safety and protection of our pupils in all aspects of school life
  • ensure that we teach our pupils how to keep themselves healthy and safe – in and out of school
  • ensure that we audit our safeguarding practices regularly so we remain vigilant

If we have a concern regarding a pupil at the school we will initially contact the parent/carer to discuss our concern with them.  It may be that we need to share this information with other agencies and we will inform parents/carers of this if this is the case.

We are not required to contact parents/carers if a child is in immediate danger or is at risk of harm.  In these situations, a referral is made to children’s social care and/or the police immediately.

If you have any concerns regarding a child they should be reported to a member of our safeguarding team.
